Error Codes and Their Solutions

A collection of Mixer error codes, their meanings, and solutions.

Login and Account Creation Errors

"Attempted credential-based login to XBL-linked passwordless account" when I try to login
Solution: If you're getting the error, it's because you're attempting to login via the wrong method. You'll want to close the pop and pick "Sign in with Microsoft".

Account Errors

"Failed to link Microsoft account: Please sign in with the Microsoft account that is linked to this Mixer account" while attempting to link your Microsoft account.
Solution: The Microsoft account you're attempting to link is already linked to another Mixer account.

You will need to either pick a different Microsoft account to link or
1. Sign out and sign back in via "Sign in with Microsoft"
2. Head to your Account page and click "Unlink your Microsoft account".
3. Sign back into your original Mixer account and attempt to re-link your Microsoft account.

"Failed to link Microsoft account: An unknown error occurred" while trying to link a Microsoft account
Solution: The Microsoft account you attempted to link doesn't exists and you closed the pop up. Click "Link Microsoft account" and enter a valid Microsoft account. 

Channel Customization Errors

"401 from API" while trying to upload an avatar
Solution: You will need to logout of Mixer.com. Then sign back in via the "Sign in with Microsoft" option. Attempt to re-upload your avatar.

"401 from API" while trying to upload an offline image
Solution: You will need to logout of Mixer.com. Then sign back in via the "Sign in with Microsoft" option. Attempt to re-upload your offline image.

"An unknown error occurred." while trying to upload a social thumbnail
Solution: You will need to logout of Mixer.com. Then sign back in via the "Sign in with Microsoft" option. Attempt to re-upload your social thumbnail.

"An unknown error occurred." while trying to update the channel description
Solution: You will need to logout of Mixer.com. Then sign back in via the "Sign in with Microsoft" option. Attempt to edit and save your channel description.

"An unknown error occurred." while trying to update your broadcast settings
Solution: You will need to logout of Mixer.com. Then sign back in via the "Sign in with Microsoft" option. Attempt to edit your broadcast settings and save.

"413 from API" while attempting to upload an emote
Solution: The image you're trying to upload is too large. Make sure your emotes are 24x24 pixels before uploading. More details about emotes can be found here

Payment Errors

"A recurring payment of this type already exists” while attempting to buy a subscription
Solution: Please wait at least 48 hours and attempt to complete the purchase again.

Other Errors

"Token must be unique." while trying to create a team
Solution: The word you entered in the "Team Token" field is already in use by another team. Pick a different token until you find one available.

"An unknown error occurred trying to unsubscribe you." while attempting to unsubscribe from an email notification
Solution: You've already clicked the unsubscribe link in a different email and have been unsubscribed. There's no further action needed on your end and you shouldn't get these alerts anymore. 

"I/O error (send request)" while attempting to upload a team logo
Solution: We're aware of this error and currently you will not be able to upload a team logo. Our team is looking into this.
