Automated Payments FAQ

INTRODUCTION

To reliably conduct payouts and handle the multitude of tasks associated with payments, Mixer’s partnership program is migrating towards an automated payment system to increase the ability to scale Partner payouts.

While we would love to cutover all payout processes, the current automated system will only cover the payouts of Spark milestones, Embers, and Direct Purchase. We will work towards moving all payments to the automated system in the future.

FAQs

When will automated payouts begin?
Automated payouts began in May 2019. The first automated paycheck should arrive in June 2019, which will include Ember and Spark Milestone transactions from May 10th through May 31st.

Note: All Spark Milestone and Ember transactions that have occurred from May 1st through May 10th will be included in the existing payout process and should arrive in July 2019.

What payouts will be automated?
Direct Purchase, Spark Milestone, and Ember payouts will be automated.

Are there any action items I need to complete?
No, there are no action items needed from Partners at this time.

Can I get paid using something other than PayPal?
It depends on where you are located. You should already have a payment option setup for Direct Purchase and by default we will just use that. You can learn about different payment options here: https://aka.ms/autopaydetails.

Is there a minimum payment threshold I must reach before getting paid?
Yes. Depending on your payment choice and locale, there are different minimums. These are the same minimums as seen for Direct Purchase and can be reviewed under Microsoft Store Details here: https://aka.ms/autopaydetails.

Note: The minimum payment threshold is subject to change.

Is the minimum payment going to account for Direct Purchase, Embers, and Spark Milestones?
Yes! So long as all those payment options add up to the minimum threshold, you will be paid.

What happens if I don’t reach the minimum in a given month?
The amount you earned will roll over to the next pay period. Once your total balance crosses the minimum, it will be released with that month’s payout.

How do taxes work for this new form of payout?
They should work the same as before except now you will be getting your tax documents for Spark Milestone and Ember payments from Partner Center.

Note: For this upcoming tax year, you will likely get tax forms from both Mixer and Partner Center since you will have been paid by both during the taxable period. If you have any questions, please contact MixerPAM@microsoft.com.

When will my first automated payout arrive?
The first automated paycheck should arrive in June 2019 and will include Ember and Spark Milestone transactions from May 10th through May 31st.

Note: All Spark Milestone and Ember transactions occurring from May 1st through May 9th will be included in the existing payout process and should arrive in July 2019. This splitting between two paychecks will only occur during this first transition month. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

When can I normally expect to be paid?
For payments coming via Partner Center, we aim to release payments on the 15th of the month. However, they will arrive at different times depending on your choice for payment (PayPal vs. ACH vs. Wire Transfers). For details on how long it takes for a payment to arrive: https://aka.ms/autopaydetails.

Where can I see my payouts in Partner Center?
You can view your payments in “Payout”, which you can access from the upper right-hand corner of the Partner Center page.

Note: All payout amounts reflected in Partner Center are converted to the currency of your country or region. However, the amounts reflected on the patronage dashboard on Mixer.com are always in USD.

What does “Reserved” mean?
The monetary amount shown under "Reserved" reflects the earnings the account has accumulated, but which has not yet been scheduled for payment.

What does “Upcoming” mean?
The monetary amount shown under “Upcoming” reflects the earnings the account has scheduled for the next upcoming payment.

What does “Taxes Withheld” mean?
Depending on how your tax profile is set up, you may see an amount under “Taxes Withheld”. If this is incorrect, please directly reach out to Partner Center Support for assistance.

If I have an issue of discrepancy with the automated payout, what should I do?

  1. Go to http://aka.ms/storesupport
  2. Sign in with your email address associated with your Dev Center account
  3. Click on “Contact Us”
  4. Click the dropdown for “Developer Support Topic”
  5. Select “Dashboard Issue”

Will my entire month of Spark Milestone and Ember payouts be in the June 2019 payment or from Partner Center?
All Spark Milestone and Ember transactions occurring from May 1st through May 9th will be included in the existing payout process and should arrive in July 2019. This splitting between two paychecks will only occur during this first transition month. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.
