Clips FAQ

Clips are 5 to 300 second videos captured from your stream that you can use to replay your best, most memorable moments while live streaming on Mixer. This feature is currently in beta and available to Mixer Partners, Verified Channels, and selected non-Partnered channels. Clip creation is available to a channel’s Channel Editors and Viewers above a specified Rank that the streamer chooses. 

Clips Early Access

Non-Partner channels can request early access to clips at Please note that you must be logged in to sign-up. Sign-ups may temporarily be paused depending on interest and load. If you are approved, Clips will be added to your channel within 2 business days. The ability to clip will not be removed from your channel. We look forward to seeing what you do with clips! Configuring Your Channel For Clips

  1. Make sure the setting for “Keep recordings of my streams” is enabled in your Broadcast dashboard settings. 
  2. On the Users section of the dashboard settings, configure any Channel Editors for your channel. These users can create clips, among other things. You can find more information about Channel Editors here.
  3. On the Clips dashboard setting, choose to allow regular Viewers to Clip by selecting the toggle.
    Optionally: Choose a minimum channel Rank that they must be to clip.
    Be sure to save these settings.

Making A Clip

Desktop Web

If you are eligible to clip the channel (i.e. you are the channel owner, you are a channel editor, or you are a viewer over a particular rank, as configured by the channel owner), you will find the Clip button on the Player window.


In the Clip Preview window, choose what you want to clip by moving the clip selection control. Give the clip a title. The maximum clip length available here is 1 minute.


Finally, click Publish to publish the clip to the streamer’s channel. 

Mobile App

If you are eligible to clip the channel, you can tap the video player to find the Clip button on the Player window


In the Clip Preview window, give the clip a title. The length of the clip will be 30 seconds.


Finally, click 'Publish' to publish the clip to the streamer's channel.

These bots can be configured to create clips up to 300 seconds long.

One suggestion is to create chat commands that create clips of varying lengths (e.g. !clip10, !clip30, 1clip60).

Can I download my Clips? 

Clips can be downloaded in mobile app and on desktop.

On desktop, open the clip, then click the Save icon.


In the mobile app, open the clip, then tap the Download option.


Clips and Catbot

Clip titles are run through your channel's Catbot settings and can help to reject bad titles that don't follow your moderation rules. Learn more about Catbot here: What is Catbot?

Can clips be made from my channel even if I'm not a Mixer Partner? 

Clips can be made on Partner and Verified channels. Select non-Partner channels are able to clip, as we are rolling out access.

How long can Clips be? 

Clips can be a minimum of 5 seconds and up to 300 seconds. On Desktop Web, you can create a clip up to 1 minute long. On mobile app, the clip length is 30 seconds.

How do I view the Clips I have created? 

Any user can view Clips via the channel page below the video player by using the "Clips beta" tab.


If you are the channel owner, with the ability to clip ( Partner or Verified channel ) these clips are also viewable in the Broadcast Dashboard, where they can be renamed or deleted.

Will chat show up in my Clip? 

No, at this time, chat replay is unavailable. 

Do Clips expire? 

For Partners and Verified channels, clips expire after 90 days. For non-Partners, clips expire after 14 days.

Can I rename Clips? 

The channel owner and editors  can rename Clips made on the channel. Click on the pencil icon next to the clip title when it is playing in the modal, or use the "more options" icon on the Clip card.

Can I delete Clips? 

The channel owner and editors can delete Clips made on the channel. Click on the "more options" icon on the Clip card on your channel or, as the owner, in your Broadcast Dashboard



Do Clips work with co-streams? 

Yes! You can clip a channel that is in a co-streaming.

When will the rest of the community have access to this feature?

We are starting to roll out Clips to select non-Partner channels.


Note: If you delete the original past broadcast or if it expires, you will no longer be able to view clips from that broadcast.
